More Show lessĪ shadow of its former self, Pala hotel/casino is still undergoing major construction. The rooms are very spacious and well appointed. However it wasn't mentioned on the website we booked on, we have also checked other websites and while they cheerfully call themselves family friendly in the headlines right alongside the fact they have a fenced pool, the age limit is mentioned only in small print at the very bottom, apparently the fence is to keep the families out. When we brought the pool situation up with the front desk in the morning we were flippantly told the information is on the hotel website. It was late and the hotel is a long way from anywhere so we didn't feel like we had many options other than to stay. We checked in at around 10pm and had to sign a form saying that there was a no outside alcohol policy and we agreed to have our luggage searched if the hotel deemed it necessary (which felt a little overbearing) Also, we were informed that all of the hotel pools and hot tubs are only for 21 year olds and over. This was the last day of a SoCal road trip and we just wanted to relax by the pool for a day before returning home. Like many people, we used a hotel booking website for our visit. We are a family of four with a couple of teenagers.
